Harley
Losing Jasmine left a huge hole in my heart, but it also left a hole in my daily routine. The night I brought her ashes home, I couldn’t sleep. Eventually, I got up and decided to look for a dog to sponsor. That is how I found Harley, a beautiful older fellow who was rescued by the good people of Old Dog Haven. He was living in a foster home, just up the road in Marysville. I knew my husband was going to think I was crazy for wanting to bring another old dog home, but I couldn’t get over the idea that I was suppose to see that listing. His foster mom agreed, and Harley came home with us that Sunday. They were old and spotted, but the similarities ended there. Harley is anything but a princess. He is also nearly twice Jasmine’s size. It was like exchanging a ballerina for a linebacker.

Harley is a wonderful, mellow old guy
When we brought Harley home, we were thinking that a good home is a terrible thing to waste, and as long as we had space, someone should benefit. Whatever we might have given him, he has returned many times over. He has lifted our spirits and helped our broken hearts mend with his gentle spirit and inexhaustible good humor. Harley is an old guy who has difficulty moving, but he never lets that dampen his enthusiasm for life. Whether he is happy about a meal, a nap or a walk, you can rest assured, he is happy about something. We are happy to have him with us.

Hey there, doing a little Scrub-A-Mutt website updates and found your blog… Love It! Isn’t it fabulous how the love of a great dog can change our world. We said goodbye to our 13 year old lab in November, he was the last of our three big dogs. Fortunately, we have two new boys coming home on Saturday – a German Shepherd and another yellow lab. Harley looks wonderful in his pictures – you guys have done wonders!! Hope to see you at Scrub this year – August 21st.
